Koendang makes online wedding invitations. I have freelanced for it as a software engineer since August 2022, remotely, on both the invitations and what runs behind them.
What I built
- Templates. Reusable and customisable Next.js templates for the invitations, which have served 50+ clients.
- Fast updates. On-demand Incremental Static Regeneration, so a change to an invitation reaches the static page without a rebuild. It cut update latency by 90%.
- Deployment. A CI/CD pipeline for the frontend with GitHub Actions, Docker and AWS ECR, which cut deployment time by 50%.
- Logging. Custom logging with Pino and Grafana Loki, which cut the time spent debugging by 30%.
- Backups. Database backups to AWS S3 that run on their own, with Databacker.
- APIs. API endpoints for the backend services, written in Go.
What came of it
50+ clients served, updates that land 90% sooner, deployments in half the time, and 30% less time spent finding a bug.
